LSS Associates was formed in 2005 by L. Sanders Smith (Sande). Mr. Smith has had a successful sales career covering over 25 years. He began his sales career with IBM, after receiving an undergraduate degree in Physics cum laude from Bowdoin College, and a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. At Columbia, Mr. Smith was awarded a National Science Foundation Fellowship. He held increasingly responsible positions in technology sales and marketing, winning outstanding salesmanship awards on multiple occasions. Mr. Smith became President of Dynatech NewStar, a subsidiary of Dynatech Corporation, where he used his sales and management skills to grow the company from early stage to 70% share of its U.S. market, making NewStar one of the five top performers of Dynatech's 50 companies.

After moving to the Washington, DC area, Mr. Smith worked in sales and business development for several technology start-ups. He became VP of Sales and Business Development for a business-to business webcasting company in 2000. It was in his role there that Mr. Smith became involved in selling to non-profit and for-profit companies that operated major conferences. This experience was instrumental to the founding of LSS Associates, when one of Mr. Smith's non-profit clients later asked for marketing help in selling sponsorships to its major new conference. Success on this project led to the growth of LSS Associates, which now sells sponsorships for conferences operated by multiple non-profits and multiple for-profit companies.
